As you may remember, last year Walmart launched Walmart Pay, essentially the company’s own mobile payments platform. And since there are so many Walmarts around the US, it makes sense for the company to try and have their own system in stores as opposed to using another company’s system, like Apple Pay or Android Pay.
Walmart Pay has only been available in a handful of states, but Walmart has announced that Walmart Pay will now be available across all Walmart outlets in the US which covers 4,600 stores around the country. It is a big move for the company. Will it pay off?
So how does Walmart Pay work? Why would you use it? Well, platforms like Apple Pay rely on NFC which in a way limits the number of users who can use the service. However Walmart Pay just requires the user to own a smartphone and the Walmart Pay app. It is simple. You link your credit/debit card to your Walmart account and when at the checkout register, just scan the QR code on the screen using the phone’s camera and the purchase will be registered. If you shop frequently at Walmart, this might be worth checking out. They are counting on it.
We already know that the latest Raspberry Pi 3 is a powerful little pocket PC, but the $35 mini PC equipped with artificial intelligence or AI has this week beaten tactical experts during an air combat simulation.
The Raspberry Pi artificial intelligence software named ALPHA, was pitted against retired United States Air Force Colonel Gene Lee, during which the computer and human battled it out in a series of simulated engagements. With the Raspberry Pi beating Lee in every single one.
Lee described ALPHA as “the most aggressive, responsive, dynamic and credible AI I’ve seen to date.”ALPHA has also beaten other expert fighter pilots and is being hailed as a significant breakthrough in unmanned flight AI software. I was surprised at how aware and reactive it was,” Lee said. “It seemed to be aware of my intentions and reacting instantly to my changes in flight and missile deployment. It knew how to defeat the shot I was taking. It moved instantly between defensive and offensive actions as needed.
You might have gotten shot down once in awhile by an AI program when you, as a pilot, were trying something new. But, until now, an AI opponent simply could not keep up with anything like the real pressure and pace of combat-like scenarios.
Kelly Cohen, an aerospace professor at the University of Cincinnati, explained :
ALPHA would be an extremely easy AI to cooperate with and have as a teammate. ALPHA could continuously determine the optimal ways to perform tasks commanded by its manned wingman, as well as provide tactical and situational advice to the rest of its flight.
Coinciding slightly with the launch and availability of the new Dyson robot vacuum cleaner, the Dyson 360 Eye, which is now available to purchase priced at £799. Dyson has this week announced the opening of its first British retail store allowing customers to peruse their entire product line.

It has been reported this week that Google will soon be making new updates available for its Chrome browser developer version which will include a VR Shell for Android devices.
The addition of a VR Shell to its Chrome browser will allow users to view the entire web in virtual reality not just those sites that are specifically built for VR.
Over the past few years Google has played an active role in helping to roll out and push forward the WebVR standard and features that allow for the creation of virtual reality websites. Capable of serving their content directly to virtual reality headsets when required.
The latest VR shell is now looking to make any website available in a virtual reality environment and has been included in the latest builds of Google Chrome Beta and Google Chrome Dev for Android. The Road to VR website explains :
Chrome Beta now contains a WebVR setting which enables enhanced VR device compatibility with VR websites built against WebVR standards. Chrome Dev (one extra step back in development from Beta) now contains a ‘VR Shell’ setting

AMD has this week released a statement in response to the growing concern that the new AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card violates PCI-Express power specification and is overdrawing power via its single 6-pin PCIe power connector and the PCI-Express slot.
The combined power usage of the AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card should be 150W however in testing it has been found to draw well over that power limit and is now causing concern amongst users.

As you know, we continuously tune our GPUs in order to maximize their performance within their given power envelopes and the speed of the memory interface, which in this case is an unprecedented 8 Gbps for GDDR5. Recently, we identified select scenarios where the tuning of some RX 480 boards was not optimal. Fortunately, we can adjust the GPU’s tuning via software in order to resolve this issue. We are already testing a driver that implements a fix, and we will provide an update to the community on our progress on Tuesday (July 5, 2016).

Makers that would like to create more lifelike metal objects using their desktop 3D printer but is already capable of printing with PLA 3D printing filament. Maybe interested in a new filament created by Virtual Foundry called Filamet which is now available and provides a metallic finish for your 3D printed objects.

Now that the Juno probe has entered Jupiter’s orbit the team at NASA that has already had an amazing mission at a cost of $1.1billion to NASA will now be able to study the solar system’s largest planet.

Kim Dotcom is famous for his Megaupload cloud storage service. He is still facing an extradition trial in New Zealand over Megaupload and now he is working on a new cloud storage service.
He previously launched his Mega storage service which he no longer owns and now he is working on a new service that he says will be better than the original Megaupload.
According to Torrent Freak the new service is currently in development and it will be able to sync across all of your devices.
It will be interesting to see what Kim Dotcom’s new cloud storage service is like, as soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know.
Samsung has announced the world’s first UFS memory card which is designed to provide improved performance over current microSD cards.
These new UFS memory cards from Samsung will be available in a range of storage sizes from 32GB all the way up to 256GB.
